My vehicle was impounded on Oct. 24, 2007 and because California requires that the vehicle be impounded for 30 days for driving with suspended license, I picked it up on Nov. 24.

2 weeks after the vehicle was impounded with all personal belongings inside, a girl named Tina called a friend from my cellphone. The cellphone was in the vehicle when it was impounded and I was unable to get any belongings out. So I immediately called my cell and confronted Tina, well she hung up on me and didn't take anymore calls. So I retreived the messages on the phone and called everyone who left a message for Tina. Was told that an employee of Vernola's Tow took the cell and gave it to Tina. I threatened to give his name to the sheriff if I did not get my cell back now. This person called Tina and got my cell back for me. When I called Vernola's Tow and asked to speak with a Manager I got a lady who said her name is Rose (Office Manager), she said that she would check the inventory list to see what all was in the vehicle when taken and to call her back in 10 minutes.

I called back and was told my a man named Sam that Rose was not there and what did I want. So I told him and Sam said that "If your going to accuse my employee of stealing don't call here call the sheriff and hung up on me. Today I went to pick up the truck and was assisted by Maria who is RUDE. I asked for Rose and Sam, and was told that there is nobody with that name who worked there. I then asked to speak with a manager Maria said well there is nobody here to help you. After I told Maria of my complaint I was told nothing we can do about it that Vernola's does not take a inventory list of any vehicle that they Tow. Maria then told another employee to "get there piece of crap out of her", I called Maria back to speak with her and she refused to come back to the window. I looked up Vernola's Towing on the BBB.org (better business bureaus) website and Vernola's got a rating of "F", for very questionable complaints.

Under any circumstances DO NOT use Vernola's Towing Service, unless you don't mind having your personal items stolen and then covered up by employees who are rude and have no people skills. Mind you they have a 24 hour survelliance camera and yet they refuse to look at a specific date.

You never said how you & your car parted (were you arrested?) maybe that is why you never retrived your "personal belongings" prior to your cars departure.
As from the sounds of it, you never bother with your personal belongings untill your phone was used. Denial to access your personal belongings, while the vehicle was on "hold" should have been an issue from day 1. All tow services will allow you to remove your personal belongings any time during bussiness hours (unless it was used in a crime!). If you were refused this, you should have call the sheriff dept.

Anyhow 2 weeks pass & someone used your phone. You should have reported this to the sheriff dept. Why? Because with enough complaints, this company would no longer be on the sheriff dept "tow list". Anyhow, do realize, that employees do steal from there employers. Also some lots allow their customers to enter the lot and have the opportunity to steal from vehicles.

I can't comment on the perceived none professional conduct. But lesson learned. Secure your stuff before your vehicle goes to someone else.
